Updated: Prolific shoplifter jailed

A man has been jailed after he admitted stealing almost £50-worth of goods from a store in Leek.

Daniel Standell, 32, of no fixed address, was sentenced to twelve weeks behind bars at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Monday 11 August after he pleaded guilty to four counts of theft from a shop and two counts of breaching a criminal behaviour order (CBO).

On Friday 8 and Saturday 9 August, Standell stole eight bottles of wine from Co-op on West Street in Leek, a store which a CBO prevented him from entering.

PC Naomi Kramarczyk, our Moorlands Problem Solving Lead, said: “Standell is a prolific shoplifter whose offending has a significant impact on local communities and businesses.

“We are committed to continuing our #problemsolvingpolicing patrols across the local area, encouraging businesses to report such offences to us.”
